This week I have been very busy with different projects. I finished the leather coat and the embroidery and some other things, but to really test my limits, I had an urgent order for an evening gown for a wedding party that was going to take place in one week.
In a way I like to have many different projects going on at the same time, but I’ve realized that I need to be able to concentrate on one thing at a time. And usually when I have a project that I am doing, I think about it all the time. It is on my mind when I wake up and it is the last thing I think about when I go to sleep. And if I have multiple projects going on at the same time, my mind is a mess.
Well, this time I seemed to be able to keep my projects in order and managed to finish everything on time -almost- and I am still alive!
For the evening gown client I drew a couple of sketches and this is the one she chose.
We decided to make it royal blue to match with her skin tone and it is also the color she likes the most. One thing I’ve realized is the importance of the label. For me it is rewarding to see my own label on a piece of clothing that I’ve done and that I am proud of, but it is even more important for the client. It is a sign that I have approved the dress and that I stand behind it.
I am not sure I would have survived this 10 day period if my friend Petri hadn’t invited me for a little snack to taste some Norwegian delicacy. However, after a glass of Chabli I was already feeling quite tipsy, due to my confused state of mind.
